Aidan Morris’ impactful run in the Middlesbrough starting lineup will unfortunately be put on hold for the foreseeable future.

Morris is sidelined with a knee injury, which forced him out of the U.S. men’s national team’s recent CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinal second leg showdown with Jamaica. The former Columbus Crew midfielder had moved to Middlesbrough from MLS last summer and quickly jumped into Michael Carrick’s squad.

He made 17 combined appearances for the Teesside club, logging over 1,300 minutes of playing time in the EFL Championship and EFL Cup. However, the 23-year-old will miss the resumption of Boro’s league schedule, as well as the start of December’s slate.

"Aidan Morris twisted his knee last week and he's going to be out for a number of weeks,” Carrick said at a press conference Friday. “He's not back with us until Monday because he's getting some extra treatment over there [in the U.S.] and it allows him to take a deep breath really.

"He's back here Monday, but he'll be out for a little bit longer,” Carrick added.

Middlesbrough sits seventh in the Championship table and faces Oxford United, Blackburn Rovers, and Hull City to close out its November schedule.

A healthy Morris could return ahead of a busy Christmas schedule, which features three matches over a six-day period between Boxing Day and New Years Day.
