Brandon Vazquez is on his way back to MLS.
Austin FC acquired the veteran forward in a permanent deal from Liga MX club Monterrey, both sides announced Monday. Vazquez signed a Designated Player contract through 2028 which includes an option for 2029.
"I couldn't be more excited to join Austin FC, and I want to give special thanks to Anthony Precourt, Rodolfo Borrell and Nico Estévez for their efforts and belief in me," said Vazquez. "Austin FC is an organization with terrific fan support, with big plans for the future. I hope to make an immediate impact this season and help contribute to the success of the club for years to come."
A former MLS Best XI and All-Star selection with FC Cincinnati, Vazquez scored 26 goals and added 12 assists in 62 regular season appearances for the Eastern Conference club. He helped the club win the 2023 Supporters’ Shield.
He moved to Monterrey in 2024 and proceeded to score 14 goals in his one calendar year there. On the international level, Vazquez has scored four goals in 11 USMNT caps. He mainly featured during the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
"Brandon has already proven to be a goalscorer in both MLS & Liga MX," said Austin FC Sporting Director Rodolfo Borrell. "His well-known daily dedication to get prepared for games, his passion for the game, and his determination when he competes were key factors when deciding on bringing him to Austin FC."
