Jesus Ferreira is on his way to the Pacific Northwest.

Ferreira was acquired by the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday in a trade with FC Dallas, both clubs announced. In exchange, FC Dallas received winger Leo Chu and $1 million in General Allocation Money (GAM).

FC Dallas could receive an additional $1.3 million in GAM over the next two MLS season pending performance-based metrics.

“Jesus’ versatility allows him to operate in multiple attacking roles, giving our coaches more tactical options in different game situations,” Sounders general manager Craig Waibel said in a statement. “His creativity and movement will enhance our ability to break down defenses, and we’re confident he’ll be a valuable contributor to the team’s success moving forward.”

The 24-year-old Ferreira signed a homegrown contract with FC Dallas back in 2016. He proceeded to score 53 goals and add 34 assists in 163 regular-season games for the club.

Ferreira became the youngest player in MLS history to reach 50 career goals last May.

On the international level, Ferreira has earned 23 caps for the U.S. men’s national team, scoring 15 goals. However, he has yet to feature under new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino.

Chu featured in 94 matches for the Sounders during his three seasons in Seattle. His arrival in Dallas gives Eric Quill a new, dynamic winger to call on for 2025 and beyond.

The Sounders finished the 2024 MLS regular season fourth in the Western Conference while FC Dallas failed to reach the postseason.
