AFC Bournemouth received an early scare from visiting West Bromwich Albion on Saturday but eventually got their footing before rolling into the FA Cup fourth round.
Tyler Adams started and played 89 minutes as Andoni Iraola’s men defeated the Baggies 5-1 at the Vitality Stadium. The American midfielder made his return to the starting lineup for the first time December 22.
Caleb Taylor’s 14th minute goal propelled West Brom in front on the South Coast, but Bournemouth would flip the match in its favor before halftime.
Justin Kluivert tied the match in the 27th minute ahead of Dango Ouattara’s brace in a 10-minute span.
Antoine Semenyo came off the bench and added his name to the scoresheet two minutes into the second half. Fellow substitute Daniel Jebbison added an insurance goal in stoppage time as the host Cherries continued their positive campaign.
Adams led all players in duels won (8) and tackles completed (3). He also completed 90% of his passes, drew one foul, and made three defensive clearances.
The 25-year-old has dealt with some knocks of late, but looks back to his best ahead of the resumption of Bournemouth’s Premier League schedule.
Bournemouth will next visit Chelsea on Tuesday and Newcastle United on Jan. 18.
