Weston McKennie arrives in Turin ahead of reported Juventus exit

Weston McKennie made his return to Turin on Thursday ahead of a reported exit from Serie A side Juventus.

McKennie arrived at the Juventus’ training facility for medical examinations, Tuttosport reported Thursday. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder will not be with the first team for upcoming summer friendlies against Nuremberg, Stade Brest, and Atletico Madrid.

The 25-year-old midfielder is coming off a productive campaign for the Old Lady, winning the Coppa Italia and helping Juventus finish in the top-four of Serie A. He registered 10 assists in 38 combined appearances, logging just under 3,000 minutes of playing time.

However, the departure of manager Massimiliano Allegri earlier this summer has led to Juventus listening to offers for McKennie’s services. MLS side Inter Miami was the most-recent outfit linked with McKennie, while English Premier League club Aston Villa also expressed interest.

McKennie had a busy international schedule this summer with the USMNT. He featured in all five of their matches, including three in the Copa America.

The USMNT suffered an embarrassing group stage exit from the tournament, losing two of their three matches on home soil.
