Athletic Club consider flying Nico Williams to Germany for preseason finale

Athletic Club are considering a bold preseason call on Nico Williams.

The Basque giants are increasingly confident they have held off Barcelona's sustained push to sign the Spanish international this summer.

Despite major links to Catalonia, the trail has grown cold since the start of August, with Williams now back in training in Bilbao.

The 22-year-old also sent a message to Athletic Club fans as a firm indication of his plan to remain in the Basque Country for at least another 12 months.

Barcelona will not give up on the situation until the transfer window closes but their chances continue to reduce.

As per the latest update from Mundo Deportivo, Williams is now in group training, and the club are planning to fly him to Germany for their final preseason game.

They take on Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart tomorrow, and Williams could play a role, ahead of their La Liga kick off against Getafe on August 15.
