Cristiano Ronaldo blasted as ‘arrogant’ and ‘self-indulgent’ over Piers Morgan interview that is ‘all about him’ and shows Manchester United superstar

Cristiano Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan has done nothing but prove he is a self-obsessed superstar who lacks self-awareness and ‘makes everything about him’. That’s according to talkSPORT’s hosts Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara, who offered their reaction to the explosive sit-down and said it was ‘much worse’ than they thought it would be. Few escaped the firing line as Ronaldo hammered Manchester United, former boss Ralf Rangnick and the club’s young players, while he also revealed why he no longer considers the likes of Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney as his ‘friends’. Full of cringe moments between Ronaldo and Morgan, who more than once confessed their love for each other, CR7 at one point also compared himself to ‘appetising fruit’ as he spoke about his good looks and why he is so appealing to fans. And Sports Bar duo Cundy and O’Hara claimed the interview came across as an ego trip for a player who doesn’t know how to handle criticism and rejection. “It just looked so staged,” said former Chelsea defender Cundy. “Piers knows exactly what he’s doing. These questions were pre-planned and Ronaldo has got his answers. There were a couple of times you felt Ronaldo didn’t give him enough of an answer and Piers would come in and prompt him. I don’t think he comes out of it particularly well. “I don’t think he’s a particularly nice person – that comes across. There is an unbelievable lack of self-awareness. Every answer he gave, everything was about him.” One of the most surprising moments of part one was Ronaldo sharing his verdict on young players, saying they ‘don’t care’ and taking aim at the youngsters at Manchester United for not following his example on the training ground. But, after watching him speak, Cundy and O’Hara don’t believe the 37-year-old is the good role model he obviously thinks he is, and claim he’s less approachable than Roy Keane. Former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara said: “We’ve seen it now, the full interview and not just the clips, the setting, the questions, the way Ronaldo just crucifies his teammates and the young players, not giving them any credit. “Is he someone you should look up to? Does he set a good example? Has he ruined his legacy at Manchester United?” Is Ronaldo is a good role model for young players?Twitter Cundy replied: “The way he spoke about the young kids, he’s saying about how he sees himself as the example to follow – if I’m a young kid at Manchester United I don’t want to be that person. I might want to be that pelayer, but I wouldn’t want to be that person. “I’m not sure he does set a good example – you think about when he walked down the tunnel and now this interview.  “Also, looking at the way he spoke about young players, I’m not sure he’s that approachable. He said his best captain was Roy Keane and I can only imagine what Roy Keane would have been like around the dressing room towards young players. I know Roy and he could be brutal as well, obviously, but he had an ability to speak to other players. “But the way Ronaldo spoke… I felt he belittled everyone and was basically saying, ‘I’m the best that’s ever been, no one is ever going to be as good as me’.  Cundy has changed his mind about Ronaldo over this recent interview sagatalksport O’Hara said Ronaldo’s interview didn’t help his imagetalkSPORT “We know how brilliant he is, and I know English is not his mother tongue, but his choice of language… I don’t particularly like him, there’s no warmth there. This is the first time in his life and he lives in a bubble, and he doesn’t know how to handle it. “That to me is someone who is deluded if he thinks this was a good idea. Who has he got around him? Maybe he hasn’t got anyone who will give him a bit of truth.” O’Hara added: “I just thought the mannerisms of it all, he was just so arrogant.
