Dan Burn fulfilled his promise to deaf fans after Newcastle took the lead against Tottenham on Saturday.

Newcastle went ahead through Alexander Isak, who bamboozled Micky Van de Ven with 30 minutes on the clock.

A group of deaf fans were handed special shirts with sensors to help them experience the atmosphere at St. James’ Park.

And the Magpies did not disappoint after rushing into the lead with Burn celebrating by turning to the camera and using British Sign Language (BSL) to say: “Love the fans.”

It comes after the defender met with deaf fans before the match against Tottenham, who taught him and Kieran Trippier some BSL.

They asked him to pull out the celebration, which involves crossing your hands, touching your chest and shaking your fists, and Burn kindly obliged.

Fans were loving the 31-year-old, with one saying on social media: “This is lovely.”

Another wrote: “Just when you think you couldn't love this man anymore.”

A third posted: “Absolutely first class. Well done Dan.”

Newcastle’s kit was created by their sponsors Sela, who gave up their name on the front of the shirt to put the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) on there instead.

Peter Silverstone, Newcastle United’s chief commercial officer, said: "When Sela shared the idea and technology behind the haptic shirts, we supported the concept immediately, knowing it would make such an impact to our supporters who are deaf or have hearing loss.”

Newcastle raced into a three-goal lead, with Anthony Gordon netting just seconds after Isak’s opener after another Van de Ven slip.

The Sweden international then doubled his personal tally on the day after a long pass saw the striker break free of Van de Ven on the halfway line.

Newcastle made it four in the closing moments as Fabian Schar headed in from a corner.
