Galatasaray are considering a move for Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

But United sources have told talkSPORT a move to Turkey is unlikely at this stage with his wage demands believed to be a barrier.

The Brazilian is one of United’s top earners and has two years left on his contract worth around £300,000-a-week.

Reports in Turkey suggest Casemiro is open to a move to the Super Lig if the right option becomes available, as the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 13.

Galatasaray are competing in the Europa League alongside United this season.

Any move would likely be in the form of a season-long loan following the arrival of Manuel Ugarte at Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan is expected to be a key figure in United's midfield which could see Casemiro's game time restricted should he remain at the club.

The 32-year did himself no favours during Sunday's 3-0 defeat against Liverpool when he was replaced at half time by boss Erik ten Hag.

The Brazil star was at fault for Luis Diaz's quickfire double shortly before half time which saw the Reds take full control of the game.

United are continuing their quest to reduce the club's wage bill by offloading a host of high earners.

In recent seasons, the club have parted ways with David de Gea, Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho, while cutting Cristiano Ronaldo's astronomical £400,000-a week wages in 2022.

Casemiro, who was linked with a summer switch to Saudi Arabia, has been unable to replicate the form he showed in his first season at Old Trafford.

The ex-Real Madrid man came under intense scrutiny for his displays last season and whilst there was some reason for early-season optimism, his horror show against Arne Slot's side could be fatal for his United career.

Meanwhile, the move would cap off a stunning week for Galatasaray who have already tied up the loan signing of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Galatasaray are continuing to build a squad full of star names as they go head to head with Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce, for Super Lig supremacy.

The Turkish giants failed to qualify for the Champions League following a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Young Boys last week.

Instead, they will contest the Europa League and have been handed a league stage tie against Tottenham in Istanbul in November.
