Report: Feyenoord's Slot front-runner to replace Klopp at Liverpool

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is the leading candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool's next head coach, The Guardian's Andy Hunter reports.
A deal is far from being completed, sources told The Times' Paul Joyce, with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan also interested in hiring the 45-year-old who won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord last season and lifted the KNVB Cup on Sunday following a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen.
Liverpool appear to have moved on from potential appointment Ruben Amorim, who's reportedly in talks with West Ham United after gaining admiration for his work at Sporting CP. Xabi Alonso, once considered a slam dunk to replace Klopp, ruled himself out of the running when he announced in March he was staying at Bayer Leverkusen for at least one more season. While Roberto De Zerbi's name remains in the rumor mill, there's been no movement for the Brighton & Hove Albion boss.
Slot is high on Liverpool's wish list because of his high-energy tactics and ability to improve players, according to Joyce. Feyenoord have become one of the Eredivise's most progressive teams in recent years and finished with the best defensive record in the Dutch top flight in their championship campaign. But they're set to relinquish that title as they sit nine points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven with four games to play.
Feyenoord are determined to keep Slot, according to Joyce. The manager has a contract with the club until June 2026, and it would reportedly take around €10 million to break it.
Slot also helped Feyenoord reach the Europa Conference League final in May 2022. They lost to inaugural winners Roma.
