Ruben Amorim sent a three-word message after returning from London on Monday, simply saying: “See you Saturday”.

The Sporting Lisbon boss flew to the UK on Monday, primarily to meet West Ham officials, talkSPORT understands.

The Hammers are assessing their managerial options ahead of the summer with David Moyes coming to the end of his contract and being expected to move on.

talkSPORT has also reported that former Wolves and Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has been put forward as a potential replacement for Moyes.

But despite the links, Amorim refused to discuss where he’d been, instead focusing on Sporting’s remaining fixtures.

Amorim is hot property at the moment having been heavily linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool post too.

With Jurgen Klopp set to leave, talkSPORT reported that the 39-year-old had held talks with the Reds, even though the Portuguese coach denied having any communication with the club.

Amorim has already completed Portuguese football having won the Taca de Liga, the Portuguese League Cup with previous club Braga, before winning the Primeira Liga in his first full season with Sporting.

They now have the opportunity to do the league and cup double this term with Sporting seven points clear at the top of the table and set to face Porto in the Taca de Liga final.

Porto are next up for Sporting too, with Amorim now clearly turning all of his attention to the crunch clash with the Portuguese giants.

Should he win both competitions, it could be the perfect way to leave on good terms and prepare for a new challenge in the Premier League.
