Scott McTominay laughs off suggestions he was ‘bullying’ Alejandro Garnacho when kicking his hat away during Manchester United training session

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has cleared up an incident between him and Alejandro Garnacho. In November, a video surfaced of the Red Devils academy graduate snatching Garnacho’s woolly hat from his head and kicking it away in training whilst Man United were preparing for a Europa League clash with Real Sociedad. The footage shows McTominay eyeing up the youngster’s hat before swiping it off his headtwitter:@footballdaily Before walking awaytwitter:@footballdaily And then booting it into the distancetwitter:@footballdaily The 26-year-old, though, has laughed off any claims he was bullying his teenage teammate. McTominay insisted it was simply a bit of banter between him and the Argentina starlet. “I had a lot of people saying that was bullying!” he told The Athletic. “That was just a bit of a joke. But he needs to keep his feet on the ground and keep working hard and he can be one hell of a footballer.” The midfielder also complimented the 18-year-old winger and the potential he has. It was McTominay who set up Marcus Rashford’s delicious goal against Burnley in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, as the Red Devils saw off the Clarets 2-0 to go through to the quarter-finals.
