Thomas Tuchel ‘could be deported from the UK before Christmas’ as Chelsea axe leaves German manager in 90-day post-Brexit visa storm

Thomas Tuchel is reportedly at risk of being forced to leave the United Kingdom before Christmas. The German manager was axed as Chelsea boss earlier this month following a Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb and subsequently replaced by Graham Potter. Chelsea called time on Tuchel’s tenure with the club just 20-months after his appointmentAFP His dismissal came just six days after the end of the transfer window, in which he was given £250million to spend on squad reinforcements to mount a serious Premier League title challenge. But an indifferent start to the season, which saw Chelsea lose twice in their opening six games, led to co-owner Todd Boehly calling time on the German’s tenure. To make matters worse, Tuchel became embroiled in fallings out with both Boehly and members of his first-team squad prior to the fatal defeat in Croatia on September 6. Tuchel’s sacking appears to still be reverberating as, according to the Telegraph, the ex-Blues boss could be facing deportation from the UK due to Brexit rules. The Champions League winning manager reportedly arrived in Britain on a post-Brexit Body Governing Body Endorsement visa which means he can legally stay in the UK for 90 days after his sacking. A representative for Tuchel told the Telegraph: “We will act in accordance with UK rules and adapt all future plans. Final decisions are not made yet.” Chelsea owner Todd Boehly fell out with Tuchel before his eventual sackingAFP Most read in Football BLOW Toney left out of England squad for Italy match with Maguire and Bellingham to start if i speak... Tuchel is believed to be looking for a quick return to football management similarly to when he left Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. He took over as Chelsea boss in January 2021, just 33 days after his dismissal from the Parc des Princes hot seat and led the Blues to their second-ever Champions League title four-months later. Tuchel is still a big name in football management following his exploits with both the French champions and Chelsea, with a Bundesliga move likely to appeal to him.
