Why will there be no flags on The Kop against Atalanta?

Liverpool have decided to do this because the club are intending to raise season ticket prices by two per cent for the 2024/25 season.

This hasn’t gone down well with many supporters, who have immediately responded by taking all flags away for the quarter-final against Atalanta, live on talkSPORT.

In a series of tweets, the Spion Kop 1906 group said: “We are disappointed in the football club's decision towards ticket prices for 24/25.

“In response, there will be no flags on The Kop for Thursday night's game. Unlike the club's own approach, this has been agreed in consultation with other fan groups.

“There is still a chance for the club to hold some positive dialogue with the Supporters Board in time for Saturday's meeting.

“Until then, the supporters have one message: NO TO TICKET PRICE INCREASES.”

They have said in a separate post that in the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday, they will have the flags paying respect to those who lost their lives at Hillsborough, as it will be the game closest to the anniversary on April 15.

However, this could turn into a messy situation for the club if it’s not resolved.

Liverpool claimed the reason they are raising prices is due to increased operating costs.

It follows several other Premier League clubs increasing the cost of tickets, with Manchester City and Tottenham fans expressing their feelings in recent weeks.
