Real Madrid are looking at AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen as they look to improve their defence in the summer window.
Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain that the La Liga side have the centre-back on top of their list. It was also stated he has a €50m release clause and except the price, he fits all their requirements.
Journalist Tomás Roncero, writing in his column for AS, provides his take on Real Madrid’s interest in the Bournemouth star.
Éder Militão and David Alaba have struggled with injuries over the last two years, and this saw Carlo Ancelotti promote Raúl Asencio to the senior team at the start of this season.
Asencio formed a partnership with Antonio Rüdiger in the heart of Real Madrid’s defence. Roncero claims Madrid are now missing ‘the icing on the cake: a young signing with a future.’
This is where Huijsen fits in as he claims the La Liga side have identified the 19-year-old as the target. The journalist believes it would cost ‘around €40m’ for Real Madrid to take him away from Bournemouth.
It’s worth noting earlier claims, including one from today, have stated the defender has a €50m clause. If Bournemouth were to negotiate his sale, it’s most likely that they would need at least this figure.
Huijsen’s contract expires in 2030, and this puts the Cherries in a comfortable position.
