Bournemouth star Justin Kluivert should be a shoo-in for the next Netherlands squad thanks to the high level he's been showing this season.
That's according to Ron Vlaar, who has been singing the Bournemouth forward's praises to Viaplay, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
Kluivert has established himself as the leading man for Bournemouth since the turn of the year, bagging goals against Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Brighton as well as a hattrick against Newcastle United. He also had an assists apiece against Forest and the Magpies.
This season is on course to be his best ever, with 12 goals and 5 assists in 29 Premier League games so far meaning he's already beaten his previous best goal tally (10) and equalled his assists, at least when it comes to league football.
The Dutchman appears to be firmly settled and shining at Bournemouth after a few years of bouncing around Europe and never finding a home.
That has stopped his international career from ever truly taking off, with only three appearances to his name despite making his debut all the way back in 2018.
Vlaar can see that changing in the next international break, though, believing that the Bournemouth man should be a shoo-in for those fixtures.
"He was already there, so why wouldn’t he be there now," he said.
"You do have Memphis Depay who might come back, but I don’t think it will depend on that. I think he is too good and plays at a steady level.
"It doesn’t surprise me anymore. Bournemouth is of course also playing a fantastic season. That is of course an interaction between the club and the players, but I think that applies to more guys. Then you start playing at such a high level and you automatically come back into the picture for the Dutch national team.”
