Chelsea have 'clear priority' for summer window – Blues identify key targets

Last week, we covered multiple claims from Spain which stated Chelsea are interested in AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen.
On March 26th, Cadena Ser reported the Blues intend to offer a higher salary than Real Madrid for the centre-back.
Two days later, Sport stated Enzo Maresca is in direct contact with the Bournemouth star’s entourage.
A fresh report from Sport backs up Huijsen as a target for Chelsea when covering their interest in Barcelona’s Jules Koundé.
They state Chelsea’s ‘clear priority’ for the summer window is to sign a top-level defender who can operate as a centre-back and a fullback.
The 26-year-old’s preferred position is in the middle of defence, but Hansi Flick has used him as a right-back. He has starred for Barcelona and become one of the undisputed starters this season.
Chelsea showed keen interest in the France international before he joined Barcelona from Sevilla in July 2022.
The newspaper now states Barcelona are aware of the Blues’ interest in the defender who has a contract until 2027. Therefore, the La Liga club are looking to extend his contract.
Sport say the Bournemouth defender is also a key target for Chelsea, but Koundé is their priority for the next window.
It’s possible Koundé’s camp may be using Chelsea to put pressure on Barcelona to secure an improved deal. He seems outside of the age and value profile the club have are more used to targeting now.
