Valencia have identified AFC Bournemouth’s Max Aarons as their main target to strengthen defence in the winter market.

On Friday, Super Deporte reported the right-back has attracted interest from the Premier League but wants to join Los Ches.

Saturday’s edition of Sport states the La Liga side shifted their focus to the Bournemouth player after failing to sign Sporting’s Iván Fresneda.

Aarons made three appearances for the Cherries, and it includes one start, and is keen on changing clubs in January. The report claims he’s ‘pushed to reach’ the Spanish club even though there were options from England and across Europe.

The 25-year-old is now ‘one step away’ from joining Valencia on loan and barring any last-minute surprises, the deal will go through soon.

Another Spanish newspaper, AS, states the Spanish club are ‘finalising’ the move to sign the Bournemouth fullback on loan with an option to buy.

They state the ‘operation entered the final phase yesterday’, indicating that the two clubs have made progress to find an agreement.

There’s confidence of completing this deal in the next few hours as the report says Carlos Corberán want to count on Aarons for Valencia’s Copa del Rey clash against Ourense CF on Tuesday.
