Hassan eyes unbeaten run and glory in Sierra Leone clash

Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan is targeting continental glory with the national team and will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run when they host Sierra Leone at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Kick-off is at 21h00 CAT.

The Pharaohs remain undefeated in their World Cup qualifying journey, currently topping the Group A standings with 13 points. Their most recent victory was a 2-0 triumph over Ethiopia.

Meanwhile, the Leone Stars have also had a strong campaign, holding third place and sharing eight points with Burkina Faso. They recently secured an impressive 3-1 win against Guinea-Bissau.

Hassan recently outlined the team’s and coaching staff’s aspirations, emphasising their aim to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"Reaching the World Cup and progressing deep into the tournament would be even more remarkable. It would highlight the talent of this team and coaching staff and bring immense joy to Egyptian fans," said Hassan as quoted by KingFut.

He also expressed his ambition to restore Egypt’s continental success and his commitment to winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

"We are doing everything to bring AFCON back to Egypt after such a long absence. As a player, I won titles with a great group of stars," Hassan added.

"Now, as a coach, we qualified for AFCON as group leaders with four wins and two draws. We introduced new faces to prepare for the future, and I hope to win the tournament and bring joy to the Egyptian people."

Egypt holds a record of 1 win, 0 draws, and 1 loss against Sierra Leone, with a goal difference of 4-3.
