
Michael Aggrey vows to reform federations and ensure transparency if elected GOC President

Michael Odum Aggrey, a candidate for the presidency of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has pledged to strengthen the operations of national sports federations to improve accountability and transparency.His remarks come ahead of the GOCs Elective Congress, scheduled for April 26, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Center.The upcoming elections mark a significant transition for the GOC, as incumbent President Ben Nunoo Mensah steps down after serving two four-year terms since 2017.Over 30 candidates have filed to contest various executive roles, making this one of the most competitive elections in recent GOC history.Speaking to Joy Sports, Aggrey said, We're going to build on the structures that have been put together because it is on the foundation of those structures that we can build and bring successes to the committee.He stressed the importance of governance reforms within the federations.We're going to strengthen the manner in which federations are run so that federations can be accountable and as transparent as we would like to be.Aggrey, the former President of the Ghana Golf Association, is in a two-man race for the presidency against veteran sports administrator Richard Kofi Akpokavie.
