Namibia looking to solidify World Cup hopes

Namibia will be hoping to keep their unbeaten record in Group H intact when they host Equatorial Guinea in a 2026 World Cup qualifier at the Orlando Stadium in South Africa on Monday, March 24.
Kick-off is at 3pm CAT (SA, GMT+2)
The Brave Warriors beat Malawi 1-0 in Lilongwe on Thursday to register their third win in five games, taking them four points clear of Liberia in second place and strengthening their World Cup bid.
Collin Benjamin’s side have managed to keep pace with Tunisia at the midway point of the qualifying campaign, with the two teams separated by just two points at the top of the group.
Namibia actually lost 1-0 to the National Thunder in the reverse fixture on 15 November 2023, but FIFA subsequently awarded them a 3-0 win after deeming that Emilio Nsue was ineligible to play in the match.
Equatorial Guinea also had to forfeit their encounter with the Lone Stars on 20 November for the same reason and they are now in danger of failing to finish in the top two.
Juan Micha’s side have attempted to put those early setbacks behind them and they made it two wins on the spin with a 2-0 triumph over Sao Tome and Príncipe on Friday.
The National Thunder still find themselves second from bottom in the group, level with the Flames (4th) on six points and five behind the Brave Warriors ahead of their clash in Soweto.
