MLS Next Pro side North Texas SC has announced the invite midfielder Aaron Essel to the Ghana U20 team for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.The midfielder, who is on loan at the American side from Scottish outfit St Johnstone, will join his Black Satellites teammates in Cairo ahead of the start of the competition on Saturday, April 26.Essel is expected to play a huge role for the Black Satellites who are making a return to the tournament first the first time since 2021.The Ghana youth international recently made his North Texas debut in the MLS Next Pro game against Colorado Rapids 2."North Texas SC midfielder Aaron Essel has been called up to the Ghana U20 Mens Youth National team for the 2025 African U20 Cup of Nations tournament from April 26 to May 18, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt," wrote the club on their official website.Meanwhile, coach Desmond Offei is yet to release his full squad as Ghana prepares to face DR Congo in their Group C opener.The Black Satellites will also face holders Senegal and the Central African Republic in Group C.
