Fulham manager Marco Silva is convinced that Alex Iwobi can take his game to even greater heights this season after an impressive showing in the opening four months of the Premier League.
The Nigeria international has contributed two goals and two assists in 11 starts for the Cottagers, who are unbeaten in their last three matches ahead of the visit of Wolves on Saturday.
Iwobi enjoyed his most productive season in England last term after scoring five goals in 30 games and he’s been very influential on the team in the new campaign with an expected assists of 2.9 xA.
Only Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva have created more chances than him from open play and his club boss is expecting even bigger things from the 28-year-old winger.
“For me, last season was the best season from him in the Premier League, in my opinion, and I’m sure that he’s going to be better this season,” Silva told the club’s official website.
“I know him very well. I brought him to Everton, and when we got the chance to have him with us here at Fulham, it was a moment for us to go to sign him.
“First, he is a really versatile player. He can play in many positions, and I know where he’s capable and where he feels he can perform better. He likes to be in the middle of the pitch, but now he’s playing more on the right, where he’s capable, like he showed against Crystal Palace.”
