Ghanas Sports Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, has called on the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) to place more focus on developing grassroots sports.Speaking ahead of the GOC elections set for April 26, 2025, the Minister stressed the importance of starting from the bottom to build strong Olympic-level athletes.GOC should be leading the charge because they have many sports including football to manage because if for nothing at all they are responsible for our U-23 also. So they are managing virtually every facet of sports and if they organize themselves focus and look at grassroots sports, he said.He believes the new GOC president must make grassroots development a top priority.Because for every sports to reach the Olympic level you must make sure you invest right from the grassroots. So whoever becomes the President of GOC their policy should be geared towards investing in the grassroots, he added. He also emphasized the need for partnerships with government and the private sector to make the needed investment possible.
