Arda Guler speaks out on Real Madrid situation after Arsenal transfer link

03/25/2025 06:11 AM
Arda Guler insists he is intent on staying at Real Madrid despite his lack of playing time this season.
The 20-year-old joined Madrid for an initial €20 million (£17m) fee from Fenerbahce in July 2023.
Arda made 12 appearances in his first season at Madrid but after impressing for Turkey at Euro 2024 last summer, the midfielder was tipped to get more chances under Carlo Ancelotti this term.
But so far Arda has started in just 10 of Madrid’s 47 matches during the current campaign.
Arsenal have already been linked with a move for Arda, with reports in Spain claiming earlier this season that Mikel Arteta’s side have made an approach to find out more about the midfielder’s situation at Madrid.

But Arda is adamant that he still has faith in the career ‘plan’ Madrid gave him when he left Fenerbahce.
‘We’re ready to fight for all three titles until the end of the season, and that’s going to be exciting,’ Arda told Marca after Turkey’s 3-0 win over Hungary on Sunday.
‘Madrid always fights to win every game and every title.
‘Personally, my only desire is to play in every game and help my team win every title.’
Asked if he is happy at Madrid despite his lack of playing time, Arda replied: ‘Real Madrid gave me a plan and I still believe in it.
‘I’m sure I’ll succeed at Real Madrid, I’ve even bought a house in Madrid.
‘I work very hard and I’m always ready to play, as you could see in this match against Hungary.
‘I love Real Madrid fans and their support means a lot to me. I’m very grateful.
‘I came to Real Madrid to play and be an important part of this team. And I won’t stop fighting until I achieve that.’
