Arsenal and Chelsea are paying close attention to Dani Olmo’s situation at Barcelona, according to multiple claims from Spain.

The Catalan club haven’t yet registered the 26-year-old with La Liga for the second half of the season. Therefore, he’s currently available on a free transfer, despite having signed a contract until 2030 last summer.

This makes the attacking midfielder an interesting option for several clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea.

Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo says the Premier League duo and other clubs have made contact to sign Olmo. The newspaper further adds Mikel Arteta’s side were the ‘first to call’.

Despite receiving multiple approaches, the Spain international’s desire is to continue at the Camp Nou.

Another Catalan newspaper, Sport, states several European clubs are rubbing their hands over the possibility of signing Olmo for free in January.

Barcelona’s failure to register him has seen European clubs looking to find out about Olmo’s situation. Sport add these teams approached their contacts in Spain to know whether there’s a possibility to take him for nothing.

Arsenal and Chelsea are among them, along with Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, and Sport state these clubs are trying to seduce Olmo.

The former RB Leipzig man isn’t pushing for a transfer because he wants to continue at Barca. He may change his stance if Hansi Flick’s side can’t find a way to register him.
