Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus has struggled with injuries on a regular basis over the past two years and has been on the sidelines close to 200 days since December 2022.

The Brazil international’s fitness concerns impacted his game time and form at Arsenal and he didn’t make it to the Copa América squad last summer.

ESPN in Brazil have been speaking to the Arsenal player, who insists he has no complaints over missing out on the Copa América.

The forward states it was “very complicated” for him last year but is pleased to have finished on a positive note, by managing five goals and an assist for Arsenal in December.

Jesus has six goals from his last five games for the Gunners and has been enjoying regular minutes in recent weeks. The former Manchester City man has explained he’s benefiting from changes he’s made to his lifestyle.

When explaining this, the South American insisted he has to have a direct role in Arsenal’s wins for him to be fully content and feel he’s doing enough for a Brazil return.

“My reflection is one of learning, of taking better care of my health so that I’m always available, to focus on scoring goals, being in the box. I know I create a lot outside the box, I create chaos. But I understand if the team wins 5-0 and I don’t score, it’s not so good for me personally. It’s good for the team, but I always have to score,” he said.

“Three things were difficult for me: food, sleep and treatment. Even massage, which has always been difficult for me, I’m young and [I said] didn’t need massage… my sleep was very irregular, my diet is more regular now too. That’s made a total difference. And the confidence to be on the pitch.”

The Arsenal player also detailed the changes he made in both his diet and sleep to help him regain form.

“If I could, I’d eat every day, lunch and dinner, rice, beans, meat, fried egg. Stroganoff, mayonnaise salad, things I like a lot. Some days I can and some days I can’t. I realised a long time ago, and I’ve been changing,” Jesus explained.
