"One of best periods of my career" – Arsenal star trying to put 'enigma' status behind him

Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard has returned to the Belgium squad this month, after missing out on September’s matches.
Belgium manager Domenico Tedesco had told the 29-year-old that he was dropped as he wanted to try out new players. The forward was surprised but understood the German’s decision.
Tedesco is without Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Amadou Onana for the upcoming matches against Italy and France. Therefore, the Arsenal player will have a leading role with De Rode Duivels for the ongoing international break.
La Dernière Heure say the Arsenal player is the ‘eternal enigma’ of the national team, with him never quite transferring his club form. They have also relayed comments from the attacker, who took questions from Belgian journalists.
Belgium were eliminated from last 16 of the Euro 2024 in the summer and Trossard made three appearances in the tournament. His displays in Germany weren’t convincing and La Dernière Heure believe he was the ‘victim of his versatility’.
“I don’t know. We’ll probably talk about it this Thursday at the briefing. It’s always better when you play in your best position. […] I know that at the Euro, it wasn’t good enough. I spoke about it with the coach but I’m looking forward,” he said.
Arsenal signed Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. He’s scored two goals and registered an assist from nine matches in all competitions, which includes five starts.
On his form for Arsenal, Trossard explained: “At a consistently good level for two years, I’m in one of the best periods of my career.”
