Wednesday Cannon Fodder: rearranged?
Good Wednesday morning, TSFers. Everything is still snow-covered here in D.C. and the local schools are closed for the third day running. The main roads are fine, the important streets in my neighborhood are okay, and everything else is mostly a mess — hard-packed snow and ice making things treacherous. While walking Gunner this morning, I realized how much more difficult it is to walk in snow boots on slick surfaces. It's physically and mentally taxing! Enough about me.
Well, not really. As someone pointed out in the comments on yesterday's match report, I once again said something like "Arsenal played pretty well, didn't get many bounces, and didn't win." I really would like for the analysis to be different but that wouldn't be accurate to what happened. Arsenal's problems aren't new and they don't seem to be changing. There are only so many different ways you can rearrange the words to say, essentially, the same thing.
The Gunners are injured, worn out, and in need of an attacker or two. There really isn't much the club can do to change that right now. The January window is what it is and it is not likely Arsenal will be able to bring in the level of attacking talent they need to take the team up a level. And that's before you get to the club's general reluctance to spend in the winter window. They don't like January spending.
It's not all that comforting but Arsenal kinda are what they are right now and are going to be more or less the same until they get some rest and guys back from injury. I've accepted that and am trying not to let the Gunners struggles get me down as much as they sometimes do. Arsenal aren't in a great place in the short term. Fortunately, nothing that has happened changes much for the long term. There is still no other club in the Premier League I'd rather be for the next few years based on current setup.
