Young defender Josh Robinson leaves for Wigan

Arsenal have announced the departure of young defender Josh Robinson, who has joined Wigan Athletic on a permanent transfer – the first deal of the January window.
Primarily a right-back, he was included in the first team squad on four occasions this season, making the bench for our Champions League encounters with PSG, Shaktar Donetsk, Inter Milan, and Monaco.
Speaking to the official Wigan site, the 20 year old said, “I am very excited to start my journey here. It's a very big club, and I am looking forward to seeing what the season holds.
“I've been at Arsenal for a long time, and coming out of the Academy into a first-team environment is a big step but I feel like I am ready to take it.
“It's a big decision – but I thought why not take the leap of faith and hopefully everything will go well.”
Best of luck to him at his new club. Interestingly (sort of), Wigan’s Sporting Director is Gregor Rioch, son of former Arsenal manager Bruce Rioch. A bit of early 2025 trivia for you.
