Man of the match against Arsenal and Monaco tomorrow

I have to confess and I know I shared this, but when Arsenal scored their second at the weekend, I left a comment saying it's not game over, but it feels like it is. I don't think at that moment anyone thought we'd get anything from the game.

That is apart from maybe Youri Tielemans. I'm not going to say he changed the game but he was very much the engine that made it happen. And he seemed to inspire everyone around him. Could we have won, yes. Were we unlucky to not win, no.

But despite winning, we're still eighth. But three extra points would see us in fourth. How tight is that? This one really does feel like it's going down to the wire. And yes, 16 is a lot of games to go, but it's so close and it just feels like every single point is big and that point against Arsenal could be massive by the end of the season.

But this post isn't about what's happened. It's about what's about come and this post is all about the Champions League. And in that, we find ourselves fifth, with two games to go and it starts tomorrow in France. Three points tomorrow and we're one step closer with Celtic coming to Villa Park at the end of the month.

But what do we know about Monaco? Well, Monaco is a sovereign city-state and microstate on the French Riviera, very close to Italy. Founded in 1924, they have won Ligue 1 titles quite a few times (I stopped counting), most recently in 2017, and are known for nurturing talent like Kylian Mbappé and Thierry Henry.

We've also had a couple of British players who've donned the Monaco jersey. Glenn Hoddle joined them in 1987 and brought flair to the midfield and Mark Hateley joined in 1987 scoring 22 in 59 games. They're celebrated in France for their attacking style and effective youth academy.

And that's what Chat GPT told me. What I'll tell you is, it's going to be tough tomorrow. They are fourth in Ligue 1 at the moment and even though some might refer to it as a farmers league, it's a top flight league and to be fourth means they've got something about them. But they have only won one in the last five so if we approach this match like we know we all can, I'm confident of a result that warrants the optimism.

And on that, I'm going to leave it for now. Back tomorrow afternoon.
