Playing in a top league is normally the dream of many footballers all over the world. You want to be on the big teams, you want to show forth your skills, and you want to score.

However, not all players are positioned to score every time. But again, there are those ones that have actively perfected their art of goal scoring.

Well, you can find these players on topscorersfootball.com, whether they are in the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, or any other top league.

Now, almost all teams playing in the premier league have carried superstars who are known for always hitting the net whenever they are in play.

For example, Brighton has encountered some of the most skilled players in the world. Players who, when they start running towards the goal, defenders just wish they were not on the field that day.

Actually, this article will be reviewing some Brighton players in top scorer lists who have been in the Premier League in the last couple of years.

Glenn Murray

Murray first joined Brighton & Hove Albion on 25 January 2008 for £300,000 during the transfer window. His first game was four days later, and he came in at the 61st minute to substitute Nathan Elder. During the next match, on his home debut, he scored two goals, beginning his reign in goals.

After leaving Brighton for Crystal Palace during the 2011-12 season, he returned to the team on 3 July 2016 on a season-long loan.

Murray played for the team in different stages until when he was signed by Championship club Watford on 1 September 2020.

By the time Glen Murray was leaving Brighton, he had made a total of 287 appearances. And out of those, he has a combined 111 goals. This is counting the two spells that he played for Brighton.

Well, Murray might have retired from football in 2021, but he had a beautiful career that has made him a legend among Brighton & Hove Albion fans.

Bobby Zamora

Bobby Zamora is a retired English footballer that still remains in the hearts of Brighton fans. He has made huge contributions to the team, even helping the team achieve two successive promotions. He is one of those forwards who would give defenders nightmares, especially when playing at-home games.

During his first spell at Brighton and Hove Albion, he scored a whopping 77 goals in just three seasons. This was when he joined the club at the end of the 1999-2000 season.

Actually, Zamora was so good that the Brighton fans had a chant they had made in his honour. The chant followed the tune of Dean Martin's "That's Amore," and it went something like, "When the ball hits the goal, it's not Shearer or Cole, it's Zamora."

This mighty player left Brighton to join Tottenham Hotspurs in 2003 but was back to Brighton in 2015 on a one-year deal.

Actually, he came back here on a free transfer and even said that he had turned down a chance to join a team in the UEFA Champions League just so he could come back to Brighton. In fact, his first goal back in Brighton was scored in the 89th minute, giving Brighton a win over Leeds.

After his contract with Brighton ended, Zamora just went on retirement. He was unable to continue playing because of a hip injury he had sustained.

However, just last month, in October 2024, Zamora went back to Brighton, this time as part of the coaching team of the current manager, Fabian Hürzeler. He takes pride in coaching strikers today.

Out of the 162 appearances he made at Brighton, he managed to bag 90 goals to become among the biggest top scorers of Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ashley Barnes

Currently playing for Norwich City, this is another player that played a big role in elevating the status of Brighton. Ashley was born on 30 October 1989 in England. He is a striker and he takes pride is hearing the sound of the net being hit by the scored ball.

After being signed for a two-year contract with Brighton, Barnes went on to become the second-top goalscorer for the team behind Glenn Murray. What a legend.

This he did by scoring 20 goals in 49 appearances. In the 2011-12 season, Barnes was constantly the first-choice striker for Brighton and finished the season as the top scorer, having 11 goals in the current league they were playing.

Out of the 146 appearances he made in all Brighton games, Barnes collected 46 goals. His touch and style of play remain engraved within the walls of the American Express Stadium.

Danny Welbeck

This list would not be complete without the current shining star Danny Welbeck. In the current season, he has already scored six goals for the team.

Danny has been on premier league for a while, starting off at Manchester United, then Arsenal, then Watford, before being signed by Brighton in October 2020.

He has first come in for a one-year contact but has been renewing it. In the summer of 2024, he still extended his contract with the team to the end of the 2025-26 season.

With the fire that he is showcasing, Welbeck might become the highest-scoring Brighton player in a season.
