Egan-Riley leads the defence again at West Brom

Having won the man of the match and the player ratings in our 1-0 defeat at Millwall, CJ Egan-Riley repeated it against West Brom with an even better performance, arguably his best so far in Burnley colours.
Singled out for praise between the two games by Scott Parker, his performance at the Hawthorns won him no less than 71% of the vote for the man of the match. Coming into the side for just his second league start for us, Jeremy Sarmiento was second with a 13% share. The next two places both went to defenders; Maxime Estève was third with 4% and Lucas Pires too fourth place with 3% of the vote.
The same four players were those who also took the top four places in the player ratings with two of them switching positions. Egan-Riley was again the clear winner with a rating of 8.12 out of ten with his defensive partner Estève in second place with 7.18. Sarmiento was third with 7.02 and Pires, with a rating of 6.72 out of ten, claimed fourth place.
It's given Egan-Riley another ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year. Both Estève and Sarmiento won five points with Pires taking two points.
While bringing no change at the top of the table, it has seen Egan-Riley reduce Estève's lead at the top to 36 points while Sarmiento has joined James Trafford in fifth place on 17 points.
The Swansea VOTE is still running but closes at the end of today.
