Webb has the whistle for Pompey visit

David Webb will referee our home game against Portsmouth tomorrow in what will be his first Turf Moor game since our 1-0 win against Coventry in January 2023.
It was one of the four occasions he refereed a Burnley game that season. He'd already taken charge of the home games against Stoke and Middlesbrough and he ended our away programme as referee at Bristol City.
Webb is now into his seventeenth season as a Football League referee. It all kicked off with Bury v Brentford in League Two back in August 2008 and just about a year later he refereed Preston v Peterborough, his first Championship fixture.
The first of his eleven Burnley games to date came in November 2010 at Coventry, a game we lost 1-0 and a game that saw Michael Duff the only Burnley player carded out of a total of three. Overall, in those eleven games, he's picked up a rating of 61.48 out of a hundred in RATE THE REF and currently sits in 12th place in the current table.
Tomorrow will be his fourth game of the season and the other three have all come in the Championship. There have been eight yellow cards in those games with five of them going to home team players and three to away team players.
His most recent game came three weeks ago at Cardiff when he took charge of their 2-0 home defeat against Middlesbrough. Cardiff had Jesper Daland and Manolis Siopis yellow carded alongside Middlesbrough's Aidan Morris.
Fourth official tomorrow is Scott Tallis. New to the league at the start of last season, he is still to referee above League One.
