Journalist Isaac Montoya Chirieleison has told the Danish media that Burnley signing Oliver Sonne has become a big star in Peru. Due to his grandmother, Sonne can represent Peru and has made ten appearances for the South American country.
The defender recently signed for the Championship side, moving to Burnley from Danish side Silkeborg IF.
Speaking to Tipsbladet, Chirieleison said the Burnley right back is being seen very positively in Peru for various reasons. One of those is his professionalism, with many players in Peruvian football living something of a party lifestyle, whereas Sonne is seen as a clean-cut and clean-living pin-up.
He’s also the nephew of supermodel Helena Christensen, which is bringing increased attention to the Burnley player.
"He's not only loved by our women for his looks, but also for being very professional. He is the complete opposite of players from Peru’s local leagues. He doesn’t have any bad habits – doesn’t drink or smoke. He spends time with his girlfriend and family when he has time off and has a general positive influence on those around him. Women want him as their husband, and men want see him as their model, athlete, or they want a son like him," said Chirieleison.
Last month Sonne signed for Burnley on a four and half deal but is still waiting to make his debut for the east Lancashire club.
During the last campaign he started 15 games for Silkeborg IF in the Danish Superliga and was also involved in their failed attempts to qualify for the Europa League, and then the Europa Conference League.
