Leeds United are yet to confirm their place in the Premier League, but recent results have them well-placed to win promotion.

Leeds United are back on top of the Championship table after a concerning wobble. LUFC have won back-to-back games to reclaim their spot and with Sheffield United losing three on the bounce, they boast a five-point gap to the play-off places.

The full focus remains on on-pitch matters of course, but the Whites do have an eye on potential summer recruits too. And, recent reports have claimed that a deal for a new striker will be prioritised when the next transfer window comes around.

Joel Piroe has been the go-to man this season with Mateo Joseph as his backup, but with neither proven in the top-flight and questions over Patrick Bamford’s future, a new talisman looks to be on the shopping list.

With that said, we put forward three strikers Leeds United should have their eyes on…

Arnaud Kalimuendo – Stade Rennais

Kicking off this list is Arnaud Kalimuendo, who has impressed in an underperforming Stade Rennais side. The 23-year-old, formerly of PSG, has managed 15 goals and four assists in 29 games across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side.

Mainly playing as a striker, Kalimuendo has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career to date but with Stade Rennais far from the European fight they usually aim for, a Leeds United move could be tempting if they win promotion.

The forward has been in fine form of late and might not be the cheapest option on this list, but he could be the most capable of making a telling impact off the bat.

Mohamed Amoura – VfL Wolfsburg

Now, one thing to make clear regarding Mohamed Amoura is that he is only on loan at VfL Wolfsburg, and that move will be made permanent this summer. However, signing for a reported €17m (around £14.5m), it might be worth testing the waters with a bid to see if the Bundesliga club fancy making a quick profit.

With 10 goals and 10 assists in 26 Bundesliga games this season, 24-year-old Amoura is certainly the most well-rounded of the three Leeds United options put forward.

His stock has risen quickly this season and that won’t come cheap. But, he is a rapid and technically gifted attacker who could star for LUFC once given time to adjust physically as a smaller forward.

Who plays at Elland Road?

Emanuel Emegha – RC Strasbourg

Last but not least is towering Dutchman Emanuel Emegha, who has impressed in France under the lead of former Hull City boss Liam Rosenior.

Standing at 196cm, 22-year-old Emegha boasts speed not usually associated with players of his height. However, he is very much a powerhouse at the top of the pitch and is well-versed in being utilised as a target man to link up play when required.

Emegha has 13 goals in 24 Ligue 1 games this season. Again, as with Amoura and Kalimuendo, he might not be a particularly cheap option, but compared to what you could get with similar money for domestic-based players, a move for someone like Emegha instead would be a no-brainer.
