West Brom and Coventry City meet on Good Friday in a potentially decisive clash in the Championship play-off fight.

West Brom come into their Good Friday clash against Coventry City off the back of a much-needed win last time out. WBA arrested a run of three consecutive defeats by beating Tom Cleverley’s Watford on home turf.

Karlan Grant and Mikey Johnston had the Baggies 2-0 up and Moussa Sissoko’s second-half strike was not enough to inspire a comeback.

The result leaves Tony Mowbray’s side just outside the play-offs in 7th. They’re three points off 6th, a place that is occupied by upcoming opponents Coventry City.

Speaking of the Sky Blues, they were left frustrated on Monday night as they played out a 1-1 draw with Hull City. Matt Grimes had put them ahead but Frank Lampard’s side were pegged back by a deflected 82nd-minute goal from Abu Kamara.

It could have been a valuable win for the top six hopefuls but it was enough to keep them in a strong position coming into this challenging game.

The last six games has seen Coventry win two, draw one and lose three, through two of those defeats were at the hands of top-two hopefuls Sheffield United and Burnley.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

James Ray

“I can’t help but feel this game might deal a big blow to West Brom and their top six hopes. Defeat would leave them six points behind Coventry City and while that is still within reach heading into the last three games, it would be a big hill to climb.

Bristol City might still be there to catch but it could prove too little too late for WBA after their poor run before the Watford win.

Coventry City will be confident of winning on home turf against a Baggies side that has struggled on the road under Mowbray. I’ll be backing them to win, though it could be a close game.”

Prediction: Coventry City 2-1 West Brom

Coventry City’s fate is in their own hands as they look to cement a place in the play-offs. They will be frustrated that they weren’t able to beat Hull City last time out.

“Frank Lampard’s men were denied on numerous occasions by Ivor Pandur in the Tigers goal. They will want to return to winning ways now on Friday and can’t afford to lose here.

West Brom are still in with a shout of getting into the top six. WBA have a big opportunity if they can beat Coventry City here.

“The Baggies won 2-1 at home to Watford in their last outing. I think this will be a close match and could be a draw in the end.”

Prediction: Coventry City 1-1 West Brom
