QPR boss Marti Cifuentes has said Liam Morrison is doing ‘really well’ at the moment.

QPR drew 1-1 with Bristol City over the weekend in their latest Championship clash. Karamoko Dembele got their goal against the Robins before George Earthy equalised.

Morrison, 22, has made 17 appearances in all competitions so far this season, 12 of which have come in the league. He has had his injury issues but has forced his way into the team recently.

Cifuentes has said, as per a report by West London Sport: “He’s doing really well. I’m very happy for him. He was very unfortunate to pick up the injury when he did, not only because he was playing at a really high level but because we were missing other centre-halves.

“That was a moment when for sure we were missing him, and then when he came back other centre-halves were back and were ahead of him in terms of rhythm and match fitness. He has not put a foot wrong since he started playing again.”

Who plays at Elland Road?

QPR’s Liam Morrison hailed

QPR snapped up Morrison last summer to bolster their defensive ranks. He has made a positive impression during his first season.

The Scotland youth international has put in some solid performances for the London outfit. He will be hoping to establish himself in their starting XI properly in the next campaign.

He was on the books at Rangers and Celtic as a youngster. The North Ayrshire-born man then moved over to Germany in 2019 when Bayern Munich came calling.

Morrison never made a senior appearance for the Bundesliga giants. However, he was a key player for their B team in the Regionalliga Bayern league.

He played 24 competitive matches and scored one goal. Wigan Athletic then swooped to land him on loan and made 35 outings for the Latics, finding the net on two occasions from the back.

What now for QPR?

QPR are nearly mathematically safe after their recent couple of results. They won 3-1 away at Oxford United before their draw with promotion chasing Bristol City.

Morrison has come back into the team alongside Southampton loanee Ronnie Edwards in the heart of the backline. As Cifuentes has alluded to, he has performed well and he will want to end this term on a high not.

The Hoops are back in action on Friday away at Preston North End at Deepdale.
