Leeds United signed Isaac Schmidt from Swiss club St Gallen in the summer transfer window.

He’s still looking for regular first team football, having played only 10 Championship minutes over four games. He wasn’t even in Leeds' squad in the last two league games.

Despite that, the player has made it clear in an interview with Switzerland’s 20 Minuten that he is very happy about the move to Elland Road.

The fullback insisted he has no regrets about the decision he made in the summer.

He said, reflecting on how Leeds United have welcomed him: “I was very well received. When I arrived here, I found mentors who helped me settle in.

"They explained everything to me."

He further stated: "The team is good, very welcoming. I didn’t necessarily expect that.

"Because we know that, when you reach the highest level, it can quickly become every man for himself. But not here, and I’m happy to be here.”

Speaking of his game time at the club, Schmidt expressed surprise at being used on the wings.

“I’m already happy to have had a few minutes of play.

"Me, being able to come in and contribute offensively – in all the matches I played, I played right winger! That’s already really cool. I know that I have to take a step forward and that I’m going to have to fight for my place. Nothing is ever a given in football.”

The 24-year-old is clearly excited about his Leeds United future, despite a lack of minutes so far.
