Leeds United’s Rasmus Kristensen came up through the ranks of FC Midtjylland’s youth system and spent two years with their first team before moving to Ajax in 2018.

The right-back left the Eredivisie side for Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, who then sold him to Leeds in June 2022.

Last season, he was on loan at AS Roma and the Whites let him join Eintracht Frankfurt on another loan deal in the summer window.

Prior to joining the Bundesliga side, the Danish club made an offer to sign Kristensen, and this was revealed by the 27-year-old prior to the Europa League clash between the two clubs on Thursday.

The Leeds owned player also stated he would like to return to his former club at some point in his career. Midtjylland manager Thomas Thomasberg has revealed he knew about the contact made by his side to sign the Leeds United player in the last window.

His comments are relayed by Tipsbladet.

“I have a knowledge of most things that happen at the club in terms of players coming in and [going] out. I was well aware of the contact, as I think all parties have said,” he said.

“I think with most talented players, you want to improve your team as much as possible. And someone who has been here before, who’s really skilful and around the national team, you constantly try to make the group as strong as possible.

“That’s not what we ended up with, and that’s what I relate to. But he’s a really good player, and the club rates him highly because he’s one of our own. He’s also someone they like at Frankfurt.”

After the Leeds man talked about the option of returning to his former club, the manager has now opened their door for the Dane to return to Midtjylland.

“A player who can play for the number two in the Bundesliga can also play in most places in the Superliga. His qualities are always sought after,” Thomasberg explained.
