More than Millwall: How much did QPR spend on agent fees in 2024/25?

15/04/2025 07:10
QPR are set for another season of Championship football in 2025/26 with a finish around the mid-table region looking likely.
There is still football left to play this season, but it won’t be long until the QPR news and rumour mill is made up of transfer speculation.
The Rs will spend next season as a Championship club again and they will be eager to make more strides forward. The feeling is that a brighter future lays ahead of the Loftus Road club, despite falling on some hard times and points this season.
Marti Cifuentes has largely impressed ever since arriving in West London and had it not been for a slow start and a whole host of significant injury blows, there’s a good chance they would be a fair bit higher in the Championship table heading into the final four games of the season.
Nonetheless, eyes will turn to the summer window soon. Despite recruiting fairly heavily last year, QPR need more fresh faces if they’re to level up next season…
How much did QPR spend on agent fees in 2024/25?
Having made 15 signings over the course of this season, be it through permanent deals, loans, or free transfer additions, QPR have had to work with their fair share of agents. That means a decent outlay on agent fees may have been expected.
As relayed by journalist Henry Winter, Championship sides spent a total of £63,201,447 on agent fees from February 2024 to February 2025, but the Rs only make up £1,361,727 of this total.
This is only the 15th-highest total in the Championship. Funnily enough, 15th is exactly where the Rs sit in the league table at this time of writing too.
Interestingly, this total is higher than London rivals and play-off outsiders Millwall though. It is also more than 5th-placed Bristol City.
As for those around QPR in the league table, Preston North End and Oxford United in the two places below them have spent £953,802 and £572,808 respectively. The two sides above, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City, have spent £797,697 and £2,635,111.
A reflective league position
QPR might have spent a little more than some sides who have fared better in the league, but they have avoided spending heavily and underachieving. To be on par is a safe space to be when it comes to finances.
Hopefully, it sets them up for some more expenditure on the transfer front in the summer. Key positions such as striker will be under scrutiny, while centre-backs may be eyed as Ronnie Edwards prepares to return to Southampton.
Until then though, QPR will be looking to end on a high on the pitch. Up next is a Good Friday clash with Preston North End.
