Leeds United head to the Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United on Friday night in their upcoming Championship clash.
Leeds United are top of the table above Burnley on goal difference. LUFC are five points above Sheffield United with four fixtures left to play this season.
Daniel Farke’s side won 2-1 at home to Preston North End last time out. Manor Solomon and Jayden Bogle got their goals against the Lilywhites in the first half.
The Whites will want to do their upmost to avoid the play-offs again this year. They were beaten in the final last term by Southampton at Wembley.
As for Oxford United, their focus is on second tier survival. They won 1-0 away at Sheffield Wednesday in their last outing after Sam Long’s winner at Hillsborough.
The U’s are sat in 17th position after their victory against the Owls. They are six points above the relegation zone.
Gary Rowett was appointed as their manager earlier in this campaign after Des Buckingham’s surprise sacking. He has had spells in the past with the likes of Derby County, Stoke City and Birmingham City, among others.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Oxford United have won three of their last five matches so should be confident. OUFC probably only need one more win to stay up.
“Gary Rowett’s side are in for a tough test here though and will need to be at their best. They could be punished if they aren’t solid defensively.
“Leeds United are under massive pressure to get a win at the Kassam Stadium. LUFC will know Burnley and Sheffield United’s scores by the time they kick off.
“This could be a potential banana skin for the Whites. However, in the end I think they will do enough to win.”
Prediction: Oxford United 1-2 Leeds United
James Ray
“Leeds United might have got back on track with much-needed back-to-back wins, but a trip to the Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United is definitely a potential banana skin.
“The U’s have battled well under Gary Rowett and after that concerning run, they look as though they’ll be fine in the survival fight. They’ve pulled off some big scalps on home turf and will be eyeing another here.
“However, after that worrying turn, I think LUFC have weathered the storm. I’ll back them to come through a tough game victorious here, but they can not overlook Oxford whatsoever, or they will be punished.”
Prediction: Oxford United 0-2 Leeds United
