'A joke' – Chelsea interest laughed off by local press, another club nearing move
Today at 05:22 AM
Yesterday, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Chelsea are pushing hard to sign Hellas Verona midfielder Reda Belahyane.
The report indicated that the Morocco international was seen as a replacement for Cesare Casadei, who is on his way out of Stamford Bridge to try and aid his stalled development.
More information about the Blues' links with Belahyane has emerged today and it is not good news for Chelsea.
L’Arena, a local newspaper based in Verona, have described interest from the Blues as 'a joke' today.
They claim that the link was floated about yesterday to increase the midfielder’s price. They believe that this was done deliberately by the 20-year-old's entourage, who are looking to obtain a high amount of profit from the midfielder’s sale.
The newspaper also state that Belahyane could leave Hellas Verona in the next few days but it will not be for Chelsea. Lazio have made an offer of about €10m for him.
More recently, Marseille have entered the race and have made a higher offer. The terms of the Rome club’s bid did not meet what Hellas Verona want and now, Marseille are the leading candidate to sign the youngster.
