Trimming the squad fat

Armando Broja has traveled with the Chelsea first-team to the US (and played the second half last night); Cesare Casadei has not. But they both might end up facing the same fate for this season: a loan to the Serie A.

AC Milan are the team supposedly looking at Broja, looking to bring him in as another striker following the acquisition of ex-Chelsea man Álvaro Morata to replace the departing ex-Chelsea man Olivier Giroud. The Rossoneri sure love their ex-Chelsea men. Ex-Chelsea man Tammy Abraham has also been linked.

There are no prizes for guessing that the "only one possible formula" for this potential deal would be a loan with an option to buy.

And presumably it would be a similar situation with Cesare Casadei and Fiorentina. According to Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina are not the only team interested in Casadei but perhaps the one showing the most interest at this point. With Casadei staying behind in London, getting him situated with a loan quickly would be quite helpful.
