Here we go

The monthlong saga of Cesare Casadei's transfer is set to end finally, with reports over the past 24 hours all agreeing that he will be joining Torino after all, and has already signed his contract to do so.

They were the first side to show real interest on the eve of the transfer window and would eventually see off competition from Napoli and Lazio, with Chelsea successfully playing them against each other to squeeze out a €15m fee (inclusive of options) with a 25 per cent sell-on, even. Not quite the €20m we wanted, but better than the €12m (and no sell-on) initially offered.

All that's technically still below the €15+5m we gave Inter Milan two and a half years ago, but the sell-on could yet pay big dividends in the future should Casadei live up to his initial promise.

Beyond the financial considerations, the 22-year-old midfielder should hopefully find more consistent playing time back in the Serie A.
