WINNER WINNER MUST-WIN WON DINNER

Chelsea started well and with plenty of energy, though that initial impetus waned after the first 15 minutes without anything to show for it on the scoreboard.

Still, Chelsea controlled proceedings, both in terms of possession and in terms of threat, and we made that semi-pressure count with Tosin being in the right place at the right time just as the clock ticked past the halfway point of the opening period. His goal was initially flagged offside, but VAR overturned it correctly.

However, as we've seen so many times, we relaxed a bit too much after that goal and Wolves grabbed an equalizer in first-half stoppage time, also from a corner, after Sánchez dropped the ball instead of catching it (or punching it clear, or pushing it over the bar).

Reenergized, Chelsea began in the second half in a more positive fashion, though our repeated attempts to create danger from the wings was not leading to too many actually dangerous situations. But then a Madueke cross was flicked on by Dewsbury-Hall and finished acrobatically by Cucurella of all players, and we restored our lead on the hour-mark.

We doubled our lead just a few minutes later, with Chalobah winning a header from a Palmer free kick and Madueke tapping in. It was probably going in anyway from Trev, but Noni made sure of it.

Chelsea were able, for once, to comfortably see out the rest of the game.

Carefree.

  • Multiple changes from last time, with a brand new defense, a brand new midfield partnership, and Neto getting a runout against his old team
  • Final 15 minutes with Disasi at right back, Gusto at left back, and Cucurella in midfield
  • James, Dewsbury-Hall, Chalobah credited with assists
  • Welcome back, Trev!
  • Tyrique George with his Premier League debut off the bench!
  • Chelsea move up to fourth, just ahead of Manchester City and Newcastle and four points behind Arsenal and Nottingham Forest
  • KTBFFH
