As most clubs desperately try to improve their squads for the second half of the season, Chelsea haven’t forgotten about their rather large sideline in wheeling and dealing through the market.

According to a claim from Fabrice Hawkins on Monday, the Premier League club have reached an agreement to sign a 19-year-old central defender.

He only signed for his current club in August of last year, costing €10m, and has since made 14 appearances for them. Despite that, Chelsea are willing to double the money paid in the summer.

It may make more sense when we say the player involved is Mamadou Sarr, who is owned by Blue Co sister club RC Strasbourg.

According to what Fabrice Hawkins is reporting on Monday, Chelsea will be paying around €20m for the defender, but he’ll be staying with the French club until at least the end of the current season.

An agreement has also been reached on personal terms, and Mamadou Sarr will be signing a long term contract with the Premier League club.

Will he ever play for Chelsea? Who knows!
