Chelsea considering Trevoh Chalobah recall, maybe — reports

The hero we need and deserve
Chelsea's injury issues at center back saw young Josh Acheampong start this weekend against Crystal Palace, and while Enzo Maresca called the 18-year-old our best player on the pitch, it's unlikely that this would be his or the club's preferred solution. Personally, I wouldn't mind if it were, but I don't imagine it's going to be.
Maresca seemed to drop a hint along similar expectations after that 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park.
"If I had to decide for one, I think for sure, Josh was our best player because of his age, it was his first game. Josh, for me, can be a top player for this club but he needs the right path, the right moment; for young players, you need to decide which moment. We decided today because we think he showed that he was ready. Today, I think he showed how good he is. Because of his age, he needs to slow down, work hard and take his next chance."
"[We] already knew Josh was good enough. Probably with Wes and Benoît injuries, we will see if something is going to happen [in the transfer window]."

Luckily for us, we might already have a perfect solution on our books for this problem! We could've in fact returned from Selhurst Park with him in tow, if we wanted to!
Alas, we didn't, which probably pleased Palace boss Oliver Glasner just as much as his smash-and-grab point.
"There was Disasi and Tosin on the bench. I don't know if you need [more] if you play with two [centre-backs]. I was just reading that Anselmino comes back so they have five. I don't know if they need eight, I don't know what they are planning. Trevoh is doing very well for us and we are planning with him."

But after initial briefing against this option, the possibility of recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Palace appears to be gaining some traction.
The Athletic was initially told that Chelsea will not be able to recall defender Trevoh Chalobah to ease their defensive injury issues because the 25-year-old's season-long loan spell at Crystal Palace does not have a break clause. However, The Athletic has subsequently been told that there is a break clause.

Even the Transfer Oracle has deemed it worthy of his attention, making it extra juicy by reminding us that Marc Guéhi once also called Cobham home. Fab's got juice!
Not entirely sure what he means by "point of contact", but sometimes these things speak in riddles. I will give you Tegea to beat with your feet in dancing, and its fair plain to measure with a rope.
Chelsea are seriously considering to bring in one more centre back this month.

Understand Marc Guehi has been discussed as an option internally, not easy… but he has 18 months left on contract.

Chalobah has been a regular for Palace ever since joining on transfer deadline day, but there are no future stipulations in his loan contract for beyond the current season, at which point he will still have three more years left on his Chelsea contract.
So maybe we just say "sorry" for how we've treated him and bring him home now.
