Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped some surprise Chelsea transfer news regarding their search for a new striker this summer.

It's often been reported that Chelsea have a favourite and priority for new striker this summer, but perhaps that isn't the case now after this latest update?

EXCLUSIVE! Strong chance Pochettino now stays, Benjamin Sesko could arrive at CFC this summer, Victor Osimhen swap-deal unlikely, Tosin Adarabioyo contract demands, Much more…

Victor Osimhen is currently a Napoli player but he is largely expected to be leaving the club at the end of the season when the transfer window opens this summer. Chelsea have largely been reported to be one of the clubs most keen on signing him.

However, could it now be that he is just going to be too expensive for Chelsea? Whilst Romano hasn't ruled out a move to Chelsea, he does suggest that the club are not keen on spending such a large amount to bring him in.

Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast this week: "Its important to say Chelsea don't want to spend crazy money and for Osimhen it is a big release clause, £103m-£111m, huge salary requested by the player and a big commission."

It does sound like a lot of money for Chelsea to be spending on one single player when they need to buy in other positions as well this summer. We saw it with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo recently, but perhaps Chelsea need to now be a bit smarter and spread the single £100m signings across two or three signings instead?

In my opinion, Chelsea need a new centre back, left back, winger, and maybe even a goalkeeper as well as a new striker this summer. So they will need to be wise in how much they decide to spend on any single target, meaning that I would personally steer away from the Osimhen deal IF it is going to cost that much.
