The chaaaaampions!

Unlike the men's UEFA competitions, the Women's Champions League has retained the classic group stage format for this season (before also adopting the "Swiss model" league phase structure starting next season), and the draw for those groups was held earlier today.

Chelsea, as the Champions of England, were seeded in Pot 1, alongside Bayern Munich, finalists (and Sonia Bompastor's previous team) Olympique Lyonnais, and defending champions Barcelona. Fellow WSL heavyweights Manchester City and Arsenal were in Pot 2.

Anyway, long story short, the Blues have been drawn against Real Madrid (Pot 2), Dutch champions FC Twente (Pot 3), and Scottish champions Celtic (Pot 4).

Specific times and dates for the matches have not been set yet, but the first games will be played in a couple weeks, October 8-9 (smartly scheduled for the men's international break).

Here are the groups for the 2024-25 Women's Champions League group stage:

GROUP A
Lyon, Wolfsburg, Roma, Galatasaray

GROUP B
CHELSEA, Real Madrid, Twente, Celtic

GROUP C
Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Juventus, Vålerenga

GROUP D
Barcelona, Manchester City, St. Pölten, Hammarby
